The Kandiduju.cz campaign was established to support the involvement of young people in communal politics. As the autumn communal election approaches, we want to draw attention to today’s negligible engagement of young people in regional assemblies. In spite of this fact, we can see an increasing interest of young people who want to make a difference in their cities and municipalities, stand as candidates in regional assemblies and improve the conditions in their closest environment.

However, due to the lack of information or another form of support, these wishes rarely turn into action. Sometimes these active citizens try to stand as candidates but their chances of succeeding are very low. Apart from this, good will is not necessarily sufficient; if one does not know how to act in their function, gaining a seat does not mean much. We want to help overcome these obstacles which separate the enthusiasm to change things from an actual meaningful participation. Our aim is to support young people who are considering a candidature. We do not see youth as a necessary requirement but it should not be an obstacle.

On this website (www.kandiduju.cz) you can find necessary information and gain a basic understanding of how municipal politics works, get tips and tricks for the elections and also for the beginning of the function at the municipality. Above all, you will find interviews with experienced politicians and personalities across all regions and political spectrum there.

After the elections, this project focuses further on professional mentoring and education of the representatives.
